A FREE PRESS

The Brits were the first people to fight for a free press. Rake and firebrand John Wilkes and poet John Milton put their professional lives on the line, and Parliament eventually supported them by lifting censorship. The story appears in the Liberty Timeline.

Last week we posted that we had crouched close to a radio in Communist Czecholslakia, listening hopefully and gratefully to the free voice of BBC news. Unfortunately it is not enough for a news organization to be free of government control. We have just learned that the BBC has privately admitted it is completely and utterly biased, treating conservative thought, Christianity and America with scorn and hate. (Hat Tip: Instapundit)

The story is in the Daily Mail.

Privately admitting that bias has imprisoned your news organization is a step forward.

We think we'll hear the voice of freedom again.
