Record-breaking glider pilot dies

Owen Truelove was 67 when he made a record-breaking glider trip in a motorized glider called the Lily May, named after his granddaughter. He travelled 15,500 miles from his home in Cornwall to New Zealand, a trip that took two-and-a-half months. Truelove started flying gliders in the RAF. He was flying with his son in New Zealand when he crashed in bad weather, and died. We are sorry, and particularly sad he was never able to write the book he planned about his journey.
