The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography sizzles

The first woman to join the French Foreign Legion was a Brit, Susan Travers. One of two hundred people who died in 2003, she has been added to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. The ODNB fills 60 hardcover volumes with fascinating Brits, and is an extremely interesting site online. Fifty thousand biographies are available online.
