This is England - but is it?
Writing about This Is England, First Post says that "Director Shane Meadows's take on his own childhood skinhead years is both an absorbing coming-of-age drama and an impressive period piece".
It's a mistake to think that the life I lead is the life of my country when millions of people are living very different lives than I am. Hence my feeling that the title of this film is a bit overblown.
The movie's personal witness is a reason to see it if I can rely on the accuracy of the witness. Does he want to be accurate? Or has he imposed a fact-proof screen between what he wants to think and the realities of England?
