If

If the EU is causing the undersupply of the British Armed Forces, meaning that every British soldier is inadequately undefended on the battlefield. . .

if EU directives mean the end of country post offices and rubbish pick-up only every two weeks and the arrival of a lot of people who don't seem to care much about the British people. . .

if the EU insists that Britain's tax rates be high so that everyone in the EU is playing on the same economically disadvantaged field (note, however, that the Eastern Europeans have established low flat tax rates and that the Irish refuse to raise their taxes). . .

if the EU has wrecked British fishermen and is about to assume control of Britain's territorial waters. . .

exactly why do the voters care whether Labour or the Conservatives or the Lib-Dems win?

I think it is because voters haven't made the EU connection, yet. They don't see how the EU affects everything from high population increases to taxes to bin collection. Aside from Christopher Booker, the media does not seem interested in informing them, but the voters will figure it out.
