Peter Roberts hits the news
Peter Roberts launched a petition on the 10 Downing Street site that won the support of nearly 2 million Britons opposing the government’s plans to tax drivers for every mile on the road. That's a phenomenal response. At the UK Independence Party conference Roberts gave a rousing and provocative speech, on video here.
Everyone would agree that British roads are congested. If you look to see who is driving the car next to you in a London traffic jam or at Heathrow or in any city centre, you might think road congestion would be best handled by effective border controls. Our island is simply too small to take in all comers, and congested roads are but one symptom of over-population.
Good for Peter Roberts in stopping yet another stealth tax that was inspired by the EU and that also raised serious privacy issues. Roberts will be the UKIP candidate in Telford at the next general election.
