Children of a common mother

The Peace Arch stands between the city of Blaine, Washington, and Surrey, British Columbia, and marks the boundary between the United States and Canada. On the side facing the United States the words on the arch remind both countries of their connections. In terms of their constitution, language, common law and freedoms, they are children of a common mother – Britain.
