Small is successful
Global Vision Director Ruth Lea makes an interesting point when she suggests that small, independent countries can be at an advantage in the new global economy because they can "craft and implement necessary policy changes rapidly, in contrast to dated regional blocs with their cumbersome bureaucracies". The United Kingdom's continued presence in the EU’s political and economic union, with its heavy regulation and protectionism, can only hold us back.
Though Britain is not a particularly small economy, it would benefit from being free of the EU.
Opting out of political and economic union is a must, and 2008 is the year to accomplish it.
