Cary Grant fusion

He became the person he wanted to be, but Cary Grant never tried to hide his poor beginnings in Bristol.

He was British and American, cool and passionate, liked by both men and women, an ‘effortless’ actor who was a perfectionist about his craft. He was a romantic lead with comic timing who conveyed a sunny competence that did not quite conceal his awareness of life’s darker passages. He was a man who listened intently to women. He was an actor who never won an Oscar but was “the best and most important actor in the history of the cinema”.

He won an Honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement.
