Fred J Taylor outdoors
Britain is rich in authors who write about country life, but there was something about Fred Taylor's liking for winter camping that made him a bit different from the others - he not only loved country pursuits, he could survive for months in wilderness.
Fred "became one of Britain's best-known countrymen as the author of a stream of books and articles on fishing, rabbiting and other aspects of rural life. . ." Among his best-loved books are Reflections on the Water, Reflections of a Countryman, My Fishing Years, and his cookbook for fish and game, One for the Pot.
Fred helped to raise funds for Angling Projects, "to get kids hooked on fishing not on drugs or crime". He died 7 May.
