For guitarist Eric Clapton "it is memories of family trips to the chalky grasslands and woods of Newlands Corner, near Guildford".

Celebrities have named the places and experiences they love for the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, which Bill Bryson is spearheading.

The book of text and photos is called Icons of England, and is available from the Campaign.
