A reader wonders - "Obamaised"?
A reader wonders if we have been "Obamaised" - perhaps because we wished the new President well.
We will not wish him well if he attempts to create a socialized economy because we believe in a free economy and we know its benefits. Socialism, which likes to hide behind the phrase "economic justice", claims to help the poor by redistributing wealth, but in reality it makes everyone miserable.
We will not wish him well if he attempts to curtail free speech by putting political correctness on a pedestal. Anglo-American free speech has been a blessing that has helped to create scientific advances and artistic achievements among much else.
We will not wish him well if he "returns Science to her proper place" by supporting a theory of manmade global human warming which has been discredited and which distracts us from real pollution concerns.
We will not wish him well if he truly believes that it doesn't matter how big a government gets only how well it works. The bigger a government gets the more money it takes from individual citizens and the less those citizens have to say about what that government does to them. That's history, and it is the particular lesson that Anglo-American peoples have learned.
We will not wish him well if he believes that only elites can govern the world - they did really well with the banks, didn't they?
We will not wish him well if he tries to take away the people's right to bear arms to protect themselves from criminals, tyranny and genocide.
We will not wish him well if he does not recognise that the strength of the English-speaking world derives from its Judaeo-Christian heritage and the belief in just law with no one above the law.
We will not wish him well if he forgets that he is a servant of the people.
And we will not wish him well if he does not defend the virtues of western civilisation with strength and wisdom.
That being understood, we wish him all the best.
It's a tall order for any man. He will need help.
