Never mind going just one way

Crossing the finish line of the Vendee Globe, Dee Caffari became the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, both ways round the world.
The 36 year-old, who completed an east to west circumnavigation in 178 days in 2005, completed her double record at 1.12pm local time in Les Sables d’Olonne having been at sea for a little over 99 days on her boat Aviva. Every day was tough and thrilling

Dee was raised in Hertfordshire. She left teaching to learn how to sail. She appears to have succeeded. Brilliantly.
