Remembering Australia's Pearl Harbor - and more

John McMahon writes -

Ten weeks after Pearl Harbour at 9.58am on 19th February 1942 the very same Japanese naval attack task force bombed Australia for the first time. In fact it was the very first time that Australia had every been attacked in its history. More ships were sunk, more bombs were dropped and more civilians died in Darwin, the Northern Terrority, than earlier at Pearl Harbour.

We described the breathtaking bravery of Australian boys defending Australia from Japanese invasion on the infamous Kokoda Trail (scroll down).

In 2004 the Royal Australian Navy, the US Navy and the Japanese joined forces to help the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami.
