"All must have prizes"

The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Barack Obama has been called an Alice in Wonderland moment.

Frankly, I'm getting a little worried at how often we are experiencing Alice and Animal Farm moments lately.

The caterpillar was sitting on a thick, orange trunk.
“What kind of plant is that?”asked Alice.
“This is a magic carrot,” said the caterpillar. “In a world made up of carrots and sticks, the more important is the carrot, because it makes conversation possible. Sticks are not needed to settle disagreements.”
“How does it work?” asked Alice.
The caterpillar broke a piece off the trunk and handed it down to Alice. One end was pointed and one end was rounded.
“ Take a bite from the rounded end, and give the person you are disagreeing with a bite from the pointed end. You will find new wisdom and be able to gain agreement for your point of view.”
“Like this?” asked Alice, and took a bite. Suddenly she felt both fearful and joyful.
“Oh my!” she exclaimed, “I do apologize for anything I may have said or done. How can I make it up to you?”
“Silly child!” exclaimed the caterpillar. “You’ve bitten the wrong end.”
