Sounds like fun
Todd, a reader who had often written us, fell mysteriously silent. The other day all was revealed when he announced his engagement to Holly. Todd and Holly have plans -
I've been to Great Britain several times and Holly has never been so we want to take in as much as we can. . . On Valentine's Day, I'm giving her Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat, which describes many of the villages and countryside where I spent time after I graduated high school.
(No doubt Todd will toss in a romantic diamond, along with Jerome's Three Men on Wheels, with its unique description of a husband and wife riding tandem.)
Todd continues -
Old friends lived in an old house in the ancient village of North Stoke, on the River Thames, between Goring and Wallingford). Ewelme village is the resting place of Jerome and has a well-preserved church where Chaucer's son worshipped and a B & B.
An older couple with whom I stayed each time over now lives in Henley. We'll visit C. S. Lewis's grave and some of his spots in Oxford, as well as Dorchester, Long Wittenham, and other villages in the Thames Valley.
On the way to Dorset, where some other friends live, we'll visit Jane Austen's home. I'm not sure about John Milton's cottage, since it may be out of the way. (Milton's 400th was celebrated in 2008.)

I'd like to see Cardiff. I've only spent a weekend in northern Wales, hiking near Snowdonia. We will hit London on foot before heading home. Obviously, we haven't fleshed out all the details yet. . .
That's part of the fun.
