Battle of Britain, radar and carrots

'It was the British who were the first to fully exploit radar as a defence against aircraft attack' (Wikipedia). Robert Watson-Watt created the working prototype that served as the basis for the Chain Home network of radars that helped to defend Great Britain from Nazi assault during World War II.

Thanks to Todd Willmarth for sending us this link to the Battle of Britain, radar and carrots. The 'boffins' who kept radar up and running during World War II are owed a huge debt.
