Parliament's Roll of Honour

Roger Helmer MEP, former Chairman of The Freedom Association, had the following to say about the EU's increasingly domineering efforts to run the British economy and boss the British around:

Yesterday, several MPs refused to accept this further transfer of power to the EU and defied the whip (some, elected in 2010, for the first time). In total, 25 Conservative MPs voted No, along with a clutch of DUP MPs and rebel Labour backbenchers. The following is a list of MPS who voted in Parliament against the transfer of more power to Brussels:

• Steve Baker
• Brian Binley
• Peter Bone
• Andrew Bridgen
• Douglas Carswell
• Bill Cash
• Chris Chope
• James Clappison
• Philip Davies
• David Davis
• Richard Drax
• James Gray
• Gordon Henderson
• Philip Hollobone
• Julian Lewis
• Jason McCartney
• David Nuttall
• Andrew Percy
• Dominic Raab
• Mark Reckless
• John Redwood
• Richard Shepherd
• Sir Peter Tapsell
• Andrew Turner
• Martin Vickers

These MPs understand that the EU is stealthily draining our liberty and our bank accounts. Everything we buy is more expensive because of the EU - and in exchange we get to trade with countries we would have traded with anyway. Not to mention that our global trade far exceeds trade with the EU.

We join Roger Helmer and the Freedom Association in thanking these MPs for taking a stand and defending Brits, despite the pressure from party whips.

And for pity's sake, let's see their numbers go up.

And, a public interest announcement, we're indebted to Roger for A Sceptic's Stocking-Filler, a fine review of our book.
