In earlier centuries Holbein and Handel were immigrants who came to London to find work. They never dreamed of receiving welfare.

Britain nourished their artistic gifts; they shared the gift of their genius and hard work with Britain. Holbein left us vivid psychological portraits of Henry VIII and the Tudor elite. Handel, who wrote rafts of glorious music, left us the Coronation anthem Zadok the Priest.
