The horses of the Household Cavalry, which the cavalry will ride in the procession, have been up since 4. They've been exercised and groomed by their riders, and the soldiers are finishing their breakfasts.
The green trees that have been installed inside the great nave look rather sweet. Meanwhile David Beckham and Victoria have just arrived, smiling austerely, hatted and pinned with his gorgeous OBE honour. Remind me not to pull on my ponytail when I enter Westminster Abbey.
Outside the crowds are huge, and have been camped on the Mall since yesterday. They include a Canadian mother and her sleeping baby. Last night, Princes William and Harry in Clarence House could hear and see the crowds, and went out to talk with them and thank them for their support.
Westminster Abbey embodies the beauty and grace and truth of the covenant between the Sovereign and the British people. A covenant is something very personal today - for it's the promise which Kate and William will make to each other before God when they marry.
The white-haired Archbishop of Canterbury, who will conduct the wedding ceremony, has just spoken of meeting Prince William and Kate. He found them full of common sense and ideals. Hooray!
Kate's hairdresser has been doing her hair since she was twenty-two and is doing her hair today. He said, happily, that she was a very caring person. Clearly she is loyal, and having made the right decision years ago has stuck with it.
Historian Simon Schama is happy that Prince William is marrying a commoner. We are all happy that he is marrying the woman he has loved for years.
Apparently, everyone in the two families was relaxed yesterday. We will see how they are as they leave Clarence House, the Goring Hotel and Buckingham Palace!
