"Humbling and inspiring" passersby and community rush to aid traffic victims

The Transport Secretary paid tribute to the way emergency services teams - and passers by - worked together on the "harrowing" task of coming to the aid of survivors.

She said: "I'd also particularly like to pay tribute to the local community of people and businesses in and around Taunton. From local people in hotels offering accomodation to relatives of those injured, to the public offering support, to off-duty hospital staff turning up at their local hospitals to help provide care, it was humbling and inspiring."

Ms Greening told MPs a total of 37 vehicles were involved in the horrific Friday night crash that left seven dead and 51 injured. . .
