I m a g i n e. . . . . .a world without phones, computers, affordable food and clothing, the World Wide Web, modern medicine or electricity, clean water, paved roads, public libraries, or most breeds of dogs and farm animals.
Imagine a world without ocean liners, suspension bridges, radio, skyscrapers, railroads, insulin, penicillin, anaesthetics, artificial hips, defibrillators, MRIs, or CT scans. Brits invented all this. Imagine a world without the Brits.
Imagine a world without Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, the hobbits or Harry Potter, without Georgian architecture, the Beatles, church hymns or country music. Imagine a world without the English language, television, jet planes, or the generators that provide power and light for our homes and cars. Imagine a world without golf, football, tennis, cricket, fly fishing, or English gardens. Brits invented all this. Imagine a world without the Brits.
Imagine a world where despots rule the earth, where Great Britain, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and India do not exist, a world without free speech or freedom of religion; without government of, by, and for the people, without just laws that protect you, your family, and your home.
Brits gave their blood to establish constitutional and representative government so we might pursue our most creative dreams. Imagine a world without the Brits.
Today we see these achievements and ideals threatened by irrationality, cynicism, intolerance, greed, and deliberate misinformation. We are losing track of our story and the ideas that have sustained us, and we now face threats to our values, our freedoms, and our prosperity so grave that civilisation is in peril. OUR MISSION By remembering who we are and what we value we will rise with courage and wisdom to meet these threats. With your help we will tell the story of the Brits in all their grit and glory. We will share the ideas and achievements of Brits at their best with a worldwide community. And together, wherever we live, whoever we are, we will nourish and protect the values of honesty and common sense, fair play and compassion, bravery and self-discipline, rational thought and faith, freedom and inventiveness, the rule of law and representative government.
