A Soldier's Christmas

Now, in keeping with the sentiments of the season, we reproduce a poem written by a soldier. Originally, the poem appeared under the title 'T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS' on the e-mail circuit with a request to pass it along, as follows:

This poem was written by a Peacekeeping soldier stationed overseas. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable: PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favour of sending this to as many people as you can? This Christmas is past, but let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE, MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY, WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO, IN THIS HOME, DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES, OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT, CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR, IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED, A TRUE BRITISH SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO, OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALISED THE FAMILIES,THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS, WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE, A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM, EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER, HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE, IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT, A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES, AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED, AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE, "SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL, AND WE BOTH SHIVERED, FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE, ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOUR, SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. "MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

UK Government Tracking UK Children

One file is a report from the Daily Telegraph, where Europe is taking the government to task and demanding that the UK justify the policy of fingerprinting children.

The second file has been compiled by a subscriber after attending an seminar on the tracking of children.

Both files will leave you wondering just how many articles of the Constitution have been broken by successive governments in following this policy of tracking children. Essentially, the government is treating English children as though they are existing in an invisible prison.

MPs' Expenses – The Electorate are Electing Cheats To Represent Them

So much information has come out in the press since the last newsletter, and so much of it is important, a full analysis is needed. I will have time to do this in my upcoming break.

One article I will mention is from the Evening Standard. This article mentions MPs at the top of the expenses scale receiving tens of thousands of pounds. At the other end of the scale, 78 MPs asked for no expenses at all!

Daylight Bill – Update & Information

Why this campaign to alter our current time system is being waged just now is not at all clear. Nor is it obvious why the Daily Express is championing the cause. I have this nagging feeling that the real problem has still to reveal itself. Years ago when I recall a similar campaign was in full swing, it was concluded that anyone north of Watford benefited from the current system since it cut down on accidents and all sorts of other problems. The main factor, I seem to recall, was that it would cost industry too much to change to another system.

European Arrest Warrant

Most reassuring, I don't think! How can any elected representative continue to watch the iniquitous farce of the European Arrest Warrant and still seek to defend criminalising the entire population under the pretence of designing a legal procedure to bring rich villans to justice?

Three Articles by Ben Greene on the Party System and the Corruption of Parliament.

I am grateful to Graham Wood who took the time and trouble to type up three documents and send them to the Messenger. Graham Wood also provided this introduction.

Greene's papers and views are extremely important. Not because he has said anything particularly new, but because he expressed what very few seem prepared to recognise, namely that the Party system is the one great road block to democratic government in the UK, and he spells it out with clarity, and argues its incompatibility with our Constitution.

Furthermore, unless and until it is broken, nothing much will change to reverse the policies which are dragging down our great country, - no matter what the people think, vote, or protest about. Because the party system demands total subservience, loyalty, and obedience, unless you cross the floor of the House(s), it completely captures the minds and freedom of MPs, no matter what their better sense and judgment may tell them on any policy. As Greene points out, an MP may protest and then withdraw from his party and become an Independent, but be sure that the "Party" will most certainly destroy him/her at the following election, if not before.

The party system then is a kind of political totalitarianism, or political monopoly over all thought and independent action in what should be a "free" system of Parliamentary representation. In turn, the electorate is virtually disenfranchised as they are forced to participate in the fraud at every election, and often knowing full well that whatever "party" they vote for, nothing will essentially change "the system" at Westminster.

For example, one issue lies at the very centre of all questions about government and the rule of law in Britain, namely our membership of the EU. As we know, all three main parties are in favour of membership, and this stranglehold on the electorate means they have no mechanism for expressing dissent at the ballot box in election after election. The 'party position' thus secures a permanent "in" position on this.

The result is that the electorate in frustration vote for "none of the above", sensing, rightly, that it is futile. Then the party may change, but the cosy consensus to maintain party allegiance remains.

If however, the party system did not exist, or there was a "free" vote. . .each MP would act according to his convictions and conscience, free from the Party Whip. The electorate would be approached by candidate MPs on the basis that they would vote in division lobbies according to their own convictions. (In terms of the Tory Party this would probably result in an overwhelming majority to leave the EU).

However, the Party system forbids this simple expedient and forces a policy. . .dictated by the leadership. . .in line with the "party position". Hence the wrong policy for the national interest is perpetuated yet again, and anger and frustration follows within the electorate.

The EU is typical of the sheer folly of the system, for any MP in his right mind knows full well that the EU is undemocratic, endemically corrupt, unrepresentative of the electorate, and economically ruinous. Only a complete fool could possibly argue otherwise, but the party position ensures that no dissent worth much will emerge.

Similarly with the 'global warming' debate. Only a half-witted loony really believes the AGW propaganda that 'warming', or 'climate change' is man-made, and yet the Climate Change Act was passed with only five members of Parliament dissenting, and without any prior attempt at costing. This means in effect that we now have a "Climate Change Ministry", with the deluded Chris Huhne now responsible for a government commitment to spend £18-20 billion on 'alternative energy' sources that will both bankrupt industry and put anything from £250 to £500 extra on to domestic fuel bills p.a.

And yet, contrary to his gut feelings, and inner convictions the MP is forced to act the hypocrite. Underneath lies fear. Fear of peer pressure, fear of the party "whip", fear of losing his seat, salary, pension, and future prospects - and thus the cost is too great - he/she submits. The loss of real democracy then, is the price paid for the existence and continued promotion of the party system. (How true the Biblical summary; 'The fear of man brings a snare'!) In addition the party system brings with it the tacit agreement between the parties not to disturb the comfortable status quo which would threaten MPs' security - virtually guaranteed by the very same system.

In addition, the lie that 'Parliament is sovereign' gives a cloak of legitimacy to the system, whereas, as Greene argues, real sovereignty resides in our superb Constitution, comprising the three vital and indispensable, independent, or more accurately the interdependent, functioning of Crown, Parliament and Judiciary, upholding the law of the land, and with it all our freedoms and liberties.

How then do we destroy the party machines which militate against us, the people, and real democratic expression? There is no easy answer for such an entrenched system with so much by way of vested and political interests. To state the obvious, the first step must be never to vote for any political party! Step two, vote only for an independent MP if these emerge. Step three, make all our political leaders well aware as to why these steps are necessary, i.e., we value democracy more than their precious parties!

I believe the issue of corruption of parliament goes to the very root of our political woes - it is systemic.

John Gouriet

John Gouriet, who recently died, is not well known outside the Constitution movement. Hopefully, in time, more of his work can be put before the general public. Here are two documents, Golden Principles of the British Constitution, JG1 and Government by Consent, JG2 which you may want to read.

Section C – Reporting Treason

This work is still in progress. More people are coming forward to report treason. With regard to the Daily Express campaign to hold a referendum on leaving the EU, someone is going to check through the comments left on the various Daily Express articles and produce an analysis. More details in the next issue. As you can imagine, this represents a huge undertaking.

Meanwhile, Albert is due to speak in Manchester in January next year. Unfortunately, details have not yet been finalised and the Messenger will not have another edition ready before the first week in February. Who am I if I cannot say what I think?
