Howard of Beautiful Britain alerted us to the Government's proposed road charging scheme which involves an unpleasant black box under your bonnet (hood, dear Americans) to track your movements wherever you go. A hefty road bill is sent to you at the end of the month, along with any charges you may have accumulated for speeding.
Howard reports,
The tracking device will cost about ÂŁ200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was ÂŁ28 for a rural florist and ÂŁ194 for a delivery driver. A non-working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid ÂŁ86 in one month.
This is the Government’s idea for cutting back on road congestion and “improving” the environment. Instead of the practical steps that could be taken, it introduces another tax to hurt workers and another method for keeping track of you.
