Winged interlude

My co-editor is out in the wilds, watching birds. He sent this photo of a chestnut-backed chickadee with a grey feathered skirt and curious eye under his Elvis Presley quiff.
Bird watchers often seem to fly under the radar, but the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has 1,500 employees, 12,200 volunteers and over one million members - 150,000 members are boys and girls. The Society was founded in 1889 to protest the use of bird skin and feathers in clothing.
I am attending a memorial service today, so posting will be lighter than usual.
