“The Adventures of Dr. A. Conan Doyle”

I remember reading Sherlock Holmes as a child and shivering with terror. I'm afraid I found Holmes almost as frightening as his criminals. However, Dr Watson was rather reassuring, and I used to imagine he resembled Arthur Conan Doyle. Having just read this review of His Life in Letters, I'm not so sure. Conan Doyle was extremely energetic, intelligent and eccentric.
