Rustic Rebel
Robin Page has written 30 books, and many Country Diary columns, but is uncertain whether they have had any effect on preserving his beloved country. He is too modest.
His latest book is Rustic Rebel, an account of farming, wrestling with bureaucrats and welcoming life.
While waiting for his book to arrive, I read that Robin had left his farm for a brief go with a surfboard. The pictures are frightening, but his account is hilarious.
And that is how Rory McGrath describes Page's latest book - "Refreshingly honest and wickedly funny. Robin Page should be made prime minister immediately; unfortunately he's handicapped by common sense and talent."
In past centuries great rebellions first rose in Britain's countryside. Those "rustics" were well informed and brave, like Page.
