Neeps and haggis for him
The Telegraph has an interesting interview with Alexander McCall Smith, the author of the Precious Ramotswe series.
Like Trollope he can write 1,000 words an hour, and almost everyone who reads one of his books reads a second and third. He "sees himself as simultaneously Scottish and British" and he likes intimate societies. Also dogs and cats. Taking a page from Dickens, he will be writing a new novel in serial form, to be published in installments on the Telegraph.
