Exciting, profound, joyful, local and global: British writers, artists and musicians
They brought honesty and common sense, fair play and compassion, bravery, daring, and self-discipline, and a passionate love of liberty to a 2000-year-long struggle to achieve freedom.
Brits gave us the modern world. We love it, loathe it, can't live without it.
They were a fellowship of men and women, slave and free who changed the world.

What a great mayor. To Hades with walking on egg shells. It's refreshing to see a political leader drop the Western false guilt for a change.

Well done Boris. Though as one who grew up with a Germanic Christmas tree, may I break a lance for white candles (in a private home, real ones), and silver and gold decorations? Perfectly beautiful, and with a traditional folded-paper and porcelain-faced Nuremberg angel on top, irresistible.
But, as said, well done Boris. What a relief to have this man as Lord Mayor!
