The Victorians - "a fiery bundle of energy"
I've just discovered Christopher Howse's column on the Victorians, How the Victorians had more fun than us -
The Victorians were a fiery bundle of energy – noisy, voracious, partial to bright colours and bad jokes, fit, energetic, sentimental but hardy, unconventional, but addicted to reform and liberty. . .
The Science timeline is chock-full of their inventions - 1832-1854, 1854-1899.
They were passionate and prolific.
Their paintings give us glimpses of who they were.
