A new look at beauty
The philosopher Roger Scruton has opened windows for me and made me feel more interested in and enthralled by the world. I'm glad he has published a new book, but I'm wary, too, because it's about beauty and discussions of beauty often contrast "the high" with "the low" in class-conscious and tedious ways.
Hopefully that is not the case with Scruton. The National Post reviewer writes -
Scruton argues that "beauty challenges us to renounce our narcissism and look with reverence on the world."
Look with reverence on the world!
