Reweave the rainbow
John Keats was concerned that science would destroy the world's mystery and "unweave the rainbow".
Poets meditating on the universe may reweave the rainbow. That was the impetus behind Dark Matter: Poems of Space, which was edited by Oxford University astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Irish poet Maurice Riordan and published last year.
The new book contains 100 poems, including 16 new works created in collaboration with space scientists. Robert Costa of Cambridge describes the volume's cosmic poetry in the Wall Street Journal.

Keats worries were baseless. Knowing the science behind the rainbow makes it no less beautiful and breathtaking than, say for example, knowing how John Everett Millais used oils and brush strokes to create Mariana In The Moated Grange. Both are works of beauty.
