Ridley Scott and Winston Churchill
Ridley Scott still has vivid memories of WWII.
"I'm a war baby," says the 71-year-old director of Alien, Gladiator and American Gangster. He remembers German planes buzzing his childhood home. "I was sitting in my mother’s arms when the bombs were dropping," says Mr. Scott.
With his brother Tony, Ridley Scott has just produced Into the Storm: Churchill at War. It's "a look at Churchill (played by Brendan Gleeson) and his relationship with his wife Clementine (actress Janet McTeer) during the war". Scott (we last wrote about him here) wanted to do the film because Churchill was "stalwart". He "stood his ground against ridiculous odds against an over-prepared enemy".
