Refreshing

Izaak Walton lived during a turbulent period in the 17th century when people who disagreed about religious matters tried to kill each other. We've been writing about this, and it was good to find Walton opposed to the murderous controversy and slipping his messages on tolerance into his fishing classic, The Complete Angler.
It was a long day, and I returned to find Chris Yates writing about morning mists and the Glorious 16th of June, the opening of the coarse fishing season, as it used to be. I think Walton would have liked reading his refreshing meditation, though he believed that fish were food for the patient and skilled, and alms for the poor.
