The bachelor knights

In the 13th century, young men supported the reformer who established Parliament. They battled for reforms that would help to define the constitutional responsibilities of the king – and, 700 years later, the US President. To achieve this, they risked their lives.
On August 4th 1265 many of the bachelor knights died fighting for reform at the Battle of Evesham. Those who survived became the Dispossessed. Their story is here.
David remarks below that the recent loss of Parliament's independence is tragic. In the light of this history, and the heroes who defended Parliament in subsequent centuries, yes, it is.
But there is always hope when free people are willing to act.
