Sad Irish vote
To vote for the non-democracy of the EU is pitiful and probably against the Irish Constitution. Apparently the veiled and not-so-veiled threats from the EU persuaded many Irish that their survival was on the line.
Some Brits had hoped that the Irish would repeat their earlier defiance and vote no. But that kind of thinking - I admit I shared it - proved to be a pipe dream. Can you think of any Irish, British or American hero who entrusted the winning of his or her freedom to someone else?
