Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won Olympic gold in the ice dance.
They "skated their hearts out to Symphony No. 5 by Mahler. . .So sweetly, so perfectly, did the Canadians skate their moody, romantic dance Monday night at Pacific Coliseum – under great pressure, with a soft melody that would have accentuated any wobble – the final score was, by ice dancing's standards, a rout. . .the ovation that saluted them at the finish was muted only by the number of hands that were otherwise occupied, brushing tears away".
