In France
On the 70th anniversary of the call of General De Gaulle to fight the Nazis from London, we are in France, in Avranches. (From the garden heights of Avranches you can see Mont St Michel across the water.) We have seen more Union Jacks in the countryside of France than we have in England. The connections with Britain and America in Avranches are multiple and fascinating.
General Patton, Henry II, Robert Grosseteste and Anselm are all remembered here.
