The British Red Cross marks 125th birthday

I spent much of yesterday working in the garden, where a few last roses were blooming. This red rose arrived in the mail. It was bred specially to mark the 125th birthday of the British Red Cross. Its name, the Humanity Rose, was chosen to honour the humanitarian principles that guide Red Cross work.
Recently the use of the Red Cross as a symbol has come under attack, and so have Red Cross ambulances, even as medical personnel were trying to provide life-saving medical help in war zones.
