A note on CCTVs
In general we don't like them on the grounds of freedom.
We don't oppose a shopkeeper putting one up. Jeweller Chris Hooper (see below) looked terrific on his CCTV when he threw armed robbers out of his shop. Note, however, that the camera did not deter the crime. Nor did the criminals make any effort to conceal their mugs. You might call that dim (you might call them mugs), but there is no word they've been caught. . .
