Richard Thompson - "Why don't you come and ease your mind with me"
In a Telegraph interview Alison Krauss said, "That's what I love. Not being interrupted, sitting in a car by myself and listening to music in the rain."
She also talked about Richard Thompson's song, Dimming of the Day, which she has just recorded.
Richard Thompson OBE, songwriter and guitarist, was born in London in 1949 and first came to notice in the 1960s playing with Fairport Convention. Here he sings The Dimming of the Day
This old house is falling down around my ears
I'm drowning in a fountain of my tears
Now my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the dayYou pull me like the moon pulls on the tide.
You know just where I keep my better side. Now days have come to keep us far apart
A broken promise, a broken heartNow all the bonny birds have wheeled away
I need you at the dimming of the dayCome the night you're only what I want
O, come the night you could be my confidantNow I see you on the street in company
Why don't you come and ease your mind with meI'm living for the night when we steal away
I need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day
Somewhere under the soft rain and British rock, you can hear the Scottish folk music which Thompson loves.
