Ascot at 300

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh arrive at Ascot.
"It is 300 years since Queen Anne found a clearing in Windsor Forest, arrived with a picnic, declared it suitable for a spot of horse racing and a few old hunters lined up for Her Majesty’s Plate and the princely sum of 100 guineas. From those not altogether humble roots, Royal Ascot, which still mixes the best of pageantry, fashion, the social scene and, most importantly, racing, has evolved."
