Red Arrows hero Flt Lt Jon Eggin

Flt Lt Jon Egging, 33, put out a distress call when his Hawk T1 suffered an apparent mechanical failure during a Red Arrows aerobatic team display at Bournemouth.
The pilot, who had served in Afghanistan, was near houses. He did not eject. He flew away from them and his aircraft crashed into a river, where he died.
"Flowers laid near the scene of the crash summed up the gratitude of residents. One card said: 'A brave pilot who missed our houses. May you rest in peace.'
