Situating the house on top of a hill would attract lighting. Were there lightning rods to conduct lightning harmlessly into the ground or is that a silly question? (Benjamin Franklin, an Englishman at the time, invented the lightning rod in America in 1749.) Did the lightning rods fail?
Everyone is safe and the Bransons have already plunged into rebuilding.
