Brits at their Best

Searching the universe for the Higgs boson

The particle was named after a physicist working in Edinburgh who proposed the Higgs theory of mass and the Higgs bosun. So far the particle has eluded all previous searches. Now physicists think they are getting close. If Newton is any guide (see post below), science will be confronting a deeper mystery, but the discoveries made on these scientific quests will transform our lives, and often for the better.
