Alnwick Castle, Northumberland / Image: Howard Maunders, Beautiful Britain Eustace de Vesci was one of the leaders of the rebellion against King John. His castle of Alnwick protected a road crossing the River Aln and the English border with Scotland. We'll have more about Vesci and his flaming quarrel with King John tomorrow.
