British act of courage goes unmentioned in Argo
Argo is a wonderful film. We loved it. But in one way it is not historically accurate: It refuses to credit British courage in helping six Americans who had fled the U.S. Embassy and were trying to escape with their lives from revolutionary Iran:
Robert Anders, 87, a former US consular officer and one of the six who were smuggled out, told The Sunday Telegraph: "If the Iranians were going to start looking for people they would probably look to the British. So it was too risky to stay [in the Embassy] and we moved on. They put their lives on the line for us. We're forever grateful."When the six Americans left the Brits, they went to their other brothers, the Canadians.
