Atonement to open
When we wrote about Ian McEwan here, we thought he had made "a beautiful attempt to free the female spirit and give her a voice in Atonement."
British director Joe Wright has just made a movie based on McEwan's novel, and critics are rolling out the superlatives. Atonement has been chosen to open this year's Venice Film Festival. "At 35, Wright is the youngest director to receive that accolade."
