The September Calendar includes the Burghley Horse Trials, the St Leger Stakes and the even higher stakes at the UKIP, Lib-Dem and Conservative party conferences; the Norman Conquests, back on the London stage after more than 30 years away; new productions opening at the West End; the Tate exhibition with Francis Bacon, whose art excites some; and Heritage Day, 300 National Trust Properties free to visitors.
