Martin Luther King's "great wells"
Powerline has a moving tribute to Martin Luther King, who has been called imperfect - and what person is not? - but whose courage and prophetic voice continue to inspire. In the speech he gave on the night before he was assassinated, the Rev. King said that those who fought for civil rights were "taking the whole nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution". Those great wells were already deep when the founders began digging, as they often remarked. They and the Brits who abolished slavery dug them deeper. The great wells dug by Brits and Americans can be found in the Liberty Timeline.
